Getting to know you

I have had my cat for a month and we are really getting along now.  After a few weeks she got restless and I think missed being free outside to roam to apartments and beg for food.  She was a stray before.  I let her play bite me too much and she got aggressive and scratched and bit up my arms.  Things changed after that, I had to establish more of a master and pet relationship.  A few weeks ago she hissed and tried to bite and scratch me and she had to spend the night in the closet, with her food, water, and litter box of course.  She hates the dark and she pouted for a few days after that.  Now she is more obedient and we even get along better.  Whenever I take her outside she gets growly, I think she wants more freedom.  It's not safe outside of course, and it's so cold she would freeze to death outside.  She is just a cat and can't understand that if I had not taken her my friend would have taken her to a shelter and she'd be living in a small cage.  I'm glad we are getting a long, all my scratch and bite marks have healed and we have both learned a few things I think.  Someone once told me that cats think that they are people too.  I think that's true.  You have to treat them like the dog-whisperer treats his dogs seeking a submissive attitude and not let them do whatever they want.  Our master and kitty relationship is working out, of course she is still a spoiled little trouble maker, but at least she has learned lessons about attacking.
